Heart of Blue

Gale's map looks like the X is about half a day south of Indaton.

Managaratha recalls that Harana was going to be assassinated by a Jabaran assassin at Middlesea. He remembers that he warned Mage Marek about the slith assassins, but he didn't warn Harana about the assassins. She is the unreality mage and de facto leader of the Yellow delegation (the Prince is under age). Lisatera is not surprised about the assassin.

Lisatera suggests she and the cataurs take the boat around to Eastport to meet us when we have done our treasure errand. We camp for the night. On the second shift, a wild Blue surge starts to float Vidan away. Scout jumps on him, waking him up; Managaratha suppresses it, and then Stella Fixes it, so he drops to the ground.

A note in Managaratha's pocket: "If you run into undead (ghosts) run. If you don't run into undead, maybe don't run, but remember you don't have to get there this time."

As we get closer to the X, Gale vaguely recalls that this is somewhere said to be dangerous, though she can't remember why.

Orange magic starts getting harder on the third day. Is there a "center of the zone" thing going on? Managaratha doesn't recognize this with magic theory, but in past comets, "you can get to Blue Side [of the river] if you go in far enough"

We keep going - Scout's friend points out a non-magic zone off that way.

When we investigate, it turns out to be slith assassins! Managaratha apologizes in slith and makes to go; Scout also backs off so he can see; Gale charges but is backstabbed by the hidden commander.

Stella gets two successes through the anti-magic and puts the mooks in timeout; Nesh and Vidan drive off the assassin while Scout burns his dodge pools and cleans up the mooks from range.

Gale is healed, sad to have missed the combat and Vidan's amazing "Death Wave" (duping) to burn the assassin's dodge pool.

Searching their camp: they have been here for at least a week, including a bunch of supplies. They have been resupplied by someone above the water. There's a set of notes in Saurian - reports on the behavior of Mage Pharius in Indeton. He seems like a random guy who is a mage, but he always has a dark cloud over his head.

On that night, Stella gets zapped with lightning (“That wasn’t me!”, said Gale.) and then a Surge takes away Stella’s tent, and Gale gets attacked by a water bubble, taking some damage until Managaratha casts a Water Breathing spell. Gale thinks she should have a goldfish for her water bubble. Then Vidan gets attacked by a sword, and is in ice shackles. Nesh fights the sword.

About three hours of traveling in the morning - the X seems to be a building or tomb or something.

After we trigger a lightning trap and find a hurricane, Vidan witnesses the map, and points out there are two locations with loot - a Managaratha note past a blademaster and a room full of vials past four mages.

Scout sneaks past the blademaster to the note - there's a bunch of sections in different languages. Trying to teleport him out triggers the blademaster, though.

Managaratha's Note:

  • Swimming in the pool will turn you Blue, wherever you were born.
  • Drinking it is only standard levels of stupid.
  • If it's time to move it back, you will need to get to all of them before you move any of them.

Loot[edit]

  • Slith bows, helmets, random supplies (several days of food), a little cash.
  • Notes in Saurien on Mage Pharius..
  • A Letter from Managaratha, in many languages.
  • +10 EPs, +6 SPs
