Inland Sea

The Inland Sea is a large body of water in the center of the world, created in ancient times when the mainland sank. It became fully enclosed when a Land Bridge formed between Kor and Kern during the War of the Lord and Lady.

Geography

The Inland Sea contains the Rainbow Isles, a small archipelago orders of magnitude smaller than any mainland zone. The sea is surrounded by mainland zones: Orange and Red on the east, and Green and Purple on the west.

The Rainbow Isles

The Rainbow Isles function as neutral ground and a sometime meeting place for the world's powers. None of the mainland zones are willing to see another establish control over the Isles. The islands are run unofficially by Cara Benefice, the "Pirate Queen," whose fleet is the largest in the Inland Sea. Merchants typically pay her tribute for safe passage. Actual piracy has been relatively rare in the past twenty years since she came to power.

The Isles operate under old magic rules, where all spells work at normal difficulty. Self-taught Rainbow Mages are rumored to exist in the Isles.
