Carol

Carol is a priest of the Goddess and the most prominent religious figure in Vani, serving as an embedded priest in Centurion Julia's household and taking the lead role in the city's contentious consort succession process. During the party circuit, she advocated for stability and the retention of Leopold as consort, though her careful, evasive responses about assassinations and stolen objects aroused suspicion among investigators. Carol was subsequently identified as likely Bent (corrupted by the Broken) through divination, and is believed to have manipulated the jealous Vivian into stealing an Orange dagger, presumably for stabbing someone though we are not sure who; however, the dagger was recovered and sanctified before it could be used, and insufficient evidence exists to move against her politically.

At the Maiden Day party, Carol actively worked to distract party members from their objectives, bringing Giaconni to distract Gale and introducing Stella to the ailing Lord DiAngelo to take her attention. When Scout attempted to determine whether Carol was Bent through divination, the attempt was blocked by some form of Crone shtick preventing detection magic. Carol also consulted with Lucy at the temple regarding party preparations, with Lucy handling most of the day-to-day work. Despite the party and investigation occurring around her, Carol has neither fled nor acted overtly, suggesting she continues her subtle machinations in the city while remaining under careful observation by Julia and her allies.
