Baron Volstak

Baron Volstak is the co-founder and political ruler of Darstan in central Red, having married Duchess Zerbina roughly twenty years ago to establish what functions as a kingdom in all but name. He is a master of political consolidation, incorporating newly conquered territories into a united realm while Zerbina leads military campaigns to expand Darstan's borders yearly.

Current Crisis

Volstak vanished during the Conclave at Middlesea and suffered severe injuries from being stabbed as a sacrifice in a four-priest ritual. The damage was shared with Duchess Zerbina through their lifebond connection. Duchess Zerbina dispatched agents including Lord Denis, Bordan (priest of Rush), and the Red mage Hiraz to investigate and rescue him. She maintains an active Life spell link to him across the distance.

His absence has left Darstan politically exposed and vulnerable to pressure from neighboring powers such as King Richard's Land and Berana. The stability of the young realm depends heavily on his return and recovery.

Role at Middlesea

Volstak attended the Conclave as part of Darstan's delegation. Captain Daniel assessed him as having the strongest personal agenda among Red delegates, noting that Darstan viewed the crisis as an expansion opportunity. Daniel believed Volstak could be convinced to support efforts against the Breaker, but would require significant reward rather than appeals to duty alone.
