Inspector Vok is a methodical, pragmatic investigator of the Inspectorate (a semi‑independent body that works with the Ministry of Interior) who has been leading the inquiry into the murder of the Redactions' leadership and the connected wave of professional assassinations. He combines mundane forensics (careful scene work and the occasional literal "sniff" for clues) with supernatural tools—notably post‑cognition he can cast and share with allies like Vidan—and keeps a running "scoreboard" on the progress of the case (the Emperor's Spy Network investigation has advanced from roughly 45/100 to 84/100 clue points).

Vok judges the killer taken in by the party to be part of an organized group of mostly half‑orcs rather than a lone hireling, sees links pointing toward the Ministry of Pearls and an external command structure, and is frank about his limits (poor at tracing teleports and hampered by internal secrecy). He values his institutional independence, is cautious about leaks and internal politics, frequently collaborates with field teams (meeting the party for lunch, escorting them to crime scenes), and is openly concerned for his own safety—willing to accept protective help so he can keep investigating.

Vok works within bureaucratic constraints, assisting the party in obtaining permits from the Ministry of Intermediation and securing necessary sign-offs to interrogate sensitive subjects like the Nameless priest helping to investigate Tier Lo's death. He provided a prioritized question list for questioning Tier Lo's shade, which ultimately yielded a significant breakthrough — 29 additional clue points that advanced his investigation substantially. During the ritual to contact Tier Lo's spirit, Vok was ambushed and poisoned by an infiltrator, revealing that a half‑orc spy has penetrated the bureaucratic apparatus involved in the investigation's oversight.
