Vani

Vani is an important Orange city-state - one of the trio (with Kor and Rin'yan) that often shapes regional commerce and politics. Ruled in practice by Centurion Julia of House Horellan, who combines military command (the Legion) with civic authority and maintains a well‑guarded household that embeds a priest (Carol) and an Orange mage corps led by Mario. The city is merchant‑oriented but leans toward martial governance and noble culture (the Lord’s House sits in a walled, gardened Noble district and is open to the public), and its local politics are currently dominated by a contentious consort succession that has produced candidates such as Leopold, Viktor, Pyotr and the unpredictable Richard IV—a contest watched closely by guilds, priests and Saurian leaders. Vani hosts significant Saurian presence and institutions (including a Saurian library and the keeper Piotr of the Lord’s House), struggles with tension between human and saurian interests, and has become the focus of security concerns after a Broken/Orange dagger theft and evidence of a broader Broken/Slith plot tied into the Middlesea Free Rangers’ investigations; as a result the city’s Temple, Guild and military networks are all on heightened alert while civic leaders favor cautious, stability‑oriented solutions.
