You don't need much excuse for things that your characters plausibly know about. If you want weird hobby interests, that's fine.

You'd need a good excuse excuse for "KS: The Breaker's Citadel" or something.

So "KS: Cataurs" would cover a fair amount of "this is how the cataurs in the Oasis/broken lands traditionally behave" and none of "this is what the Cataurs are plotting this Comet."
